Fifteen Minutes?

On my way to school, one of the morning radio guys quoted some unspecified source that stated that 1 in 4 Americans have appeared on TV in some way (i.e., on the news, on a game show, as an actor, etc.). They had previously asked for callers to participate in a blind survey, so as to solicit unbiased answers, and 6 of the 8 random callers had, in fact, appeared on TV. But then again, we live in TV Land out here.

But this got me to thinking--how much water does this theory hold? I've appeared on TV, as has my wife and many members of my family and friends. Could it be true that 25% of all people have been on TV? Please comment and tell if you have been broadcast over the airwaves, and tell what it was for. Thanks!

I've been on the news twice. Both were when I was pretty little. One was at a local museum and one was when my mom was featured as some kind of anti internet porn crusader.

I was on the news twice. Once in elementary school for a pioneer day celebration (you can only see my sleeve) and once in middle school in my math class (close up shot of my face).

On a side note I did see Shawna in the BYU Magazine a few years ago doing some sciency thing. Does that count as some of her 15 minutes of fame?

I was on the news a couple of years ago picketing in front of the Bakersfield College District offices downtown. You know me - a serious rabblerouser!

Holly-you're right! Actually, as part of that magazine article, they made a commercial for BYU-TV that they would show on TV and on the jumbotron at football games. So that's another way I was on TV.

I was on the news for a school fundraiser. I actually pushed the Vice Principal out of the way (a woman) and began freaking the camera.

My friend has basketball tickets for UNLV basketball right on the floor by the basket. I am 100% positive you can see me.

I was interviewed by that CNN lady on the street about what will be in for 2002.

I've been on a couple times interviewed for football and rugby. I was on a commercial for a failed seafood restaurant called Fatty's.

Andrew is a regular on a popular show called Entourage. He goes by the alia Adrian Grenier or something like that

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me Challa! Andrew is also on that HBO show Flight of the Concords, and he is the lead singer of Mars Volta as well. Go figure :)

I was on a local football week recap show. I was in the background with my jersey on as they introduced clips. I was also on tv in honduras as missionaries sang in a christmas program.

Price is Right w/ Shawna

BYU tv commercial, looking at a sea star with Darrin Norby. And don't you worry, it aired nationally...maybe twice. Weren't you in that too?

BYU vs UofU basketball game, front row, ESPN.

Yea, I was on that commercial wearing science goggles and doing who knows what. Darrin Norby. LOL.

Andrew, I saw your parents this weekend at my sister's wedding. I told your mom that I would post on your blog so she could keep up with me. I do check in on your little family and your beautiful little girl every once in a while, I hope you don't mind. :)

And to add to your post, I think I've been on TV quite a bit during my college volleyball career. I've had a couple interviews, action shots, articles in the paper, etc. Nothing famous though.

i know we discussed my status over the phone, but I'm sure I've been in the background of some college sporting events, and my high-school football games used to get broadcast on the local channel. Brooke however debuted in none other than a frontier pies commercial.
